Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Reports To: Director-Electrical/Controls Engineering, IT

Pay Category: Exempt

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, required.
  • Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, desirable.

Position Requirement:

Participate in the design, manufacturing, installation, operation, and support of integrated systems. Create, review, and finalize design documents. Coordinate project activities with sales, customers, service, and other ancillary departments. Utilize established engineering procedures and concepts during the design engineering process. Render technical assistance concerning product build, system function, and product application questions. Recommend and complete new designs and design changes to expand the product line.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience
  • Proficient in schematic design and panel layout techniques
  • Proficient in both AC and DC drive/motor technology
  • Proficient in programming PLCs in multiple languages (ladder logic, structure text) across multiple platforms
  • Working Knowledge of NEC I NFPA standards
  • Working knowledge of IEC standards for industrial controls and machinery
  • Familiar with UL standards associated with electrical panel build and machine assembly
  • Familiar with electrical power measurement techniques and concepts
  • Experience in test cells, or with test stands and dynamometers, a plus
  • Familiar with modeling of electro-mechanical systems
  • Familiar in circuit board design for both analog and digital electronics
  • Familiar with development and support of product firmware (LabVIEW experience a plus)
  • Familiar with Medium Voltage design and drive applications
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, planning, time management, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to lift 25 – 50 lbs.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Integrate controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), AC & DC Drives, and data collection hardware into systems for various applications
  • Create system connection, panel layout, and installation drawings using AutoCad Electrical following UL standards, the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other international standards as applicable
  • Generate system-wide reports, including wire pull schedules and Bill of Materials (BOM's)
  • Design, write, and review custom code for PLC's, across multiple platforms and in various languages (i.e. ladder, structure text, function block, etc.)
  • Design, write, configure and review custom applications and code for integrated systems
  • Support development of new products including the definition of hardware, cabling, packaging, and the development/support of firmware as it relates to hardware function
  • Create basic system models for predicting/identifying system function
  • Support board level design, test and troubleshooting of proprietary circuit boards
  • Perform root cause failure analysis of components
  • Working in close coordination with the sales team, assist in the development of project scopes, determine feasibility, define the appropriate application of product, and provide initial cost estimates for customer projects
  • Interface directly with various internal groups, service technicians, and customers
  • Write comprehensive documentation/manuals for both software and hardware systems
  • Travel to customer sites to commission systems, provide service and provide customer training
  • Travel as required: 0-5 days per month (Domestic and International)

Job Title: Service Technician

Reports To: Service Manager

Pay Category: Exempt

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent

Position Requirement:

Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 3+ years progressive experience in servicing electro-mechanical products
  • General knowledge of engines, AC and DC Electrical system, AC drives and Data Acquisition and control systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in person and on the phone
  • Detail orientated and self-directed
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time worldwide
  • Must possess the ability to think under pressure and accurately communicate solutions to customers with little direction from Management
  • Demonstrated PC Proficiency, including Microsoft Office with the ability to learn and adapt to new software systems as needed
  • Holds valid driver’s license and passport

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provide support to customers regarding all new and existing Taylor Dynamometer & Dyne Systems equipment and software
  • Provide customers with support via phone, e-mail and internet, as well as on-site
  • Travel nationally/internationally to install and service Taylor Dynamometer & Dyne Systems equipment and software
  • Train customer on safe operation and maintenance of Taylor Dynamometer & Dyne Systems equipment and software
  • Investigate and prepare for on-site calls to ensure an efficient and effective service call
  • Perform and document in-house repairs of customer equipment
  • Open and maintain service tickets accurately and in a timely manner
  • Present high standard of professional image at all times when interacting with customers

Job Title: Fabricator

Reports To: Production Manager

Pay Category: Exempt

Educational Requirements: High school diploma

Position Requirement:

Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum one year of skilled GMAW welding and cutting experience with .035 and .045 hardwire. Training through completion of an apprenticeship or other training program; other experience/skills will be verified by completion of skills testing at Taylor Dynamometer. Quality on-the-job or high school experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to achieve correct settings for fabrication, heating, welding and cutting of steel and other metals.
  • Demonstrated ability to select proper electrode, connect hoses/cables and adjust valves to obtain desired gas flow/pressure or specified amperage, voltage, or polarity per application.
  • Experience in use of grinding tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning/degreasing parts using wire brush and portable grinder.
  • Ability to use measurement equipment for general metal fabrication and weld integrity (leak) testing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, sketches and relevant work instructions.
  • Basic personal computer skills
  • Attention to detail

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Follow Bills of Material and engineering documentation to properly construct parts for finished products
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all welding equipment and tools
  • Analyze and determine best practices of fixturing and welding
  • Adhere to all safety policies and protocols
  • Keep work area clean
  • Lift 50 lb on a regular basis
  • Assist in achieving the goals of the Company by performing other duties as assigned
